Crestline, CA – The victim of the Crestline homicide on Monday, June 30, has been identified as 38-year-old Michael Clark. The suspect in the case is 53-year-old Steven Baumgartner, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

Twin Peaks Captain Rick Ells told ROTWNEWS that at 10 p.m. on Friday, June 27, a domestic disturbance call was received by deputies who responded to the 23000 block of Wildwood Way and took a report of a dispute between Baumgartner and Clark.
Shortly after 5 p.m . on Monday, June 30, several 9-1-1 calls were received about gunfire at the same location. Responding officers and homicide detectives determined Baumgartner confronted Clark in his driveway as he exited his vehicle.
Captain Ells indicated that Baumgartner went into his residence and retrieved a .357 Magnum and allegedly shot Clark once in the face.
Clark reportedly fell on his back and was later transported to St. Bernardine Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 6:09 p.m.

Crestline, CA – ROTWNEWS received the following E-mail from the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner at 7:52 a.m.:
“No information on this homicide is releasable from this office at this time. ”

Crestline, CA – Details of Monday’s fatal shooting in the 23000 block of Wildwood Lane in Crestline have not been released by authorities. The incident happened about 5:15 p.m.
However, San Bernardino Sheriff’s spokesperson Cindy Bachman told ROTWNEWS the victim was transported to St. Bernardine Hospital in San Bernardino where he died shortly after 6 p.m. Scanner transmissions indicate he was pronounced at 6:09 p.m.
“A suspect is being detained,” Bachman stated in an E-mail response to an inquiry by ROTWNEWS . “Both are male, no further info.”
Bachman did not confirm that the person in custody was a neighbor to the victim.

UPDATE – Monday, June 30 – 7:50 p.m.
Crestline, CA – At 7:35 p.m., the investigation of the shooting on Wildwood Lane in Crestline was handed off to San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Detail.
Law enforcement officials declined to release additional information until homicide detectives complete their investigation.

Crestline, CA – San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a shooting in Crestline that sent one man to an area hospital. The condition of the man was not immediately available.
Captain Rick Ells told ROTWNEWS a person of interest “is with us.”
The California Highway Patrol and Sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene near Wildwood Lane and Park Lane Monday evening about 5:30 p.m. A Sheriff’s Department helicopter was also dispatched to the Crestline area.
Sheriff’s crime scene tape blocked off the area as neighbors crowded into the streets to try and determine what was happening on Wildwood Lane.
