Lake Arrowhead, CA – On Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at approximately 3:28 p.m., a concerned family member contacted sheriff’s dispatch and requested a welfare check on Steven and Valorie Montoya. The family member had been unable to contact the them. Twin Peaks Sheriff Station deputies were dispatched to the Montoya’s residence, in the 900 block of Hospital Road, Lake Arrowhead. Upon deputies’ arrival, they made entry into the residence and found Steven, 57 years old and Valorie, 58 years old, deceased.
Investigators from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Specialized Investigations Division-Homicide Detail responded to the location and conducted a homicide investigation.
At this point, evidence suggests there were no other persons involved in Steven and Valorie’s death and their deaths were a result of murder/suicide.
