Cactus Flats – The 27-year-old man suspected of stealing a Mercedes shuttle van from an Inglewood hotel will be arraigned in San Bernardino County Superior Court at 12:30 p.m. Friday, April 3. The subject — identified by Big Bear Sheriff’s deputies as Robert Joshua Kreckel — is currently in custody at the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga.
THE INCIDENT
On Wednesday, April 1, at about 3:50 a.m., the California Highway Patrol notified the Big Bear Sheriff’s Station of a stolen vehicle with GPS (global positioning system) was being tracked in the Big Bear Valley area.
Deputies conducted a search for the Mercedes shuttle van that had been reported stolen from the LA Adventurer All-Suites Hotel,.
At about 4:20 a..m., Deputy Stanley Conway located the shuttle van drivings towards Lucerne Valley on Highway 18 near Cactus Flats.
THE ARREST
A felony traffic stop was initiated and Kreckel — identified as a transient — was placed under arrest and initially booked at the Big Bear Jail. He was later transferred to the West Valley Detention Center and held on $50,000 bail. (122)
